Philippians 3:8 (NIV)
What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ
— it seems so much of life is me pursuing the “things” of life. I am reminded that truly everything is a loss when it is compared to knowing Jesus. It’s not that those things aren’t important or even biblical. It’s the comparison. Nothing can compare when it comes to gaining Christ. Lord help me to change my focus and priorities amidst the comings and goings of life.

As we have been reading in Proverbs I came across this verse in Proverbs
“Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life,
righteousness, and honor.” I can’t help to think about our founding
document with the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But
if we truly want these things in our lives it comes from pursuing God. The
idea of pursuit to me is an action, a sense of straining toward the goal.
My prayer today is that I would pursue the things of God so much more then
the things of this world!
